The Olympics


The Olympic Games represented the highest form of physical achievement for the ancient Greeks so the Olympic started in Greece. Zeus was the Greek god. He was believed the king of the gods for ancient Greeks. The Olympic games were a mix of athletic skill and religion and they were celebrated in a festival which was dedicated to Zeus. A runner that the first Olympic champion named Coroebus. Foot races were central events in the ancient games. However, the people who compete in the races was only men and they wore no shoes or clothes. What they were covered things is only in olive oil. The pentathlon was also started over the centuries. It included five sports: discus throwing, javelin throwing, running, long jumping, and wrestling. For example, Discus throwers used discus which made of stone. Later, It was replaced by ones that such as bronze. It's the difference between now and ancient times. The long jump's jumpers held weights in their hands. Because to give them more momentum.It's helped to push the athletes through the air when they jumped. Equestrian event consisted of chariot racing and horseback ridind. Training area where the ancient Greek wrestling and boxing  is the Palaestra. Both wrestling and boxing were not important as for size and weight. Just two categories that were placed in competitors is one for men and the other for boys. In ancient times, there was only one winner for each event and the prise was an olive wreath. An Olympic olive wreath was a sign of distinction for an athlete and so Olympic champions were regarded as demigods by many people in ancient Greece. The Olympic Games were stopped by Roman Emperor Theodsius in 393 A.D. Olympic Games were brought back to life before 1,500 years.
